Blog Guidelines

Acceptable Use: The Blog is a forum for library staff members to communicate about work activities. As members of a vibrant and diverse community, participants are encouraged to engage in the full range of spirited communication, while maintaining a respectful and collegial dialogue. Bloggers are required to check facts, present balanced views, acknowledge and correct errors, and check spelling and grammar before posting.  If required, bloggers are expected to cite their sources properly, and no post should violate the intellectual property of anyone else. Bloggers are reminded to respect the institution’s confidentiality and proprietary information and should comply when the institution asks that topics not be discussed for confidentiality or legal compliance reasons. Bloggers should consult their supervisors regarding any questions about what is appropriate to include in a blog posting. If the views expressed in a post are yours and yours alone (such as in a review of a book), and do not necessarily represent the views of your employer, this should be made clear.

Oversight: The Staff Relations Committee will bear responsibility for the general maintenance of the blog. Departments and Committees will bear responsibility for the accuracy and appropriateness of the content.

Content: The Staff Relations Committee will reserve the right to reject submissions that do not conform with the mission of Fondren Library or that do not conform with the policies and guidelines presented in this document.

Departmental Posts: Department heads from each of the following departments will be asked to bear responsibility for these posts, either by posting themselves or assigning someone this role in their department. Each department should post at least once quarterly; more frequently as desired.
